一些筆記。
關於開頭與結尾。兩段話都是節錄自1940年美國通用汽車（General Motors）在1939-40紐約世界博覽會上展覽的宣傳短片《To New Horizons》，該片在向人們展示他們期望未來1960年的道路及城市規劃，並將其描述為烏托邦般的新世界。而該年前美國剛經歷經濟大蕭條，這樣的期望對當時的人來說充滿向上的動力，也引起話題性。
而身在21世紀的我們都知道後來發生什麼事，第二次世界大戰。
有一派學者認為美國之所以經濟復蘇是由於1941年美國下場參戰，不可否認確實因為參戰需要大量軍備的緣故，人人投入軍備生產或是上前線，促使失業率下降。在這之後的韓戰、越戰、美國國內反戰浪潮及搖滾樂興起，那又是另一回事了。：）
